Dots per inch: how many pixels of the museum’s file go into each inch of paper. Our floor is 240 for sheets up to 20 inches, 180 up to 36 inches and 120 beyond, because a larger print is seen from further away. We never offer a sheet below the floor, and the number on each size is the one you receive.

All editionsThe smaller girl has her hands together and her eyes on her mother, and she is saying it; the older one, on the far side of the table, waits with her spoon. The mother bends to set down the soup with a look that is half listening, half checking. Under the table a drum has been put down for later. Chardin showed the first Bénédicité at the Salon of 1740 and gave it to Louis XV, and the Louvre records this canvas as his own replica of it, painted between 1725 and 1750 and left to the museum by Dr Louis La Caze in 1869; it hangs now at Louvre-Lens. Nothing holy is in the room but the prayer. The striped chairs, the pewter, the warming pan by the wall are the whole of the setting, and the grace before meals is treated as what it was in that house, the most ordinary thing in the day. Which is the point of grace.
