A heart hangs on the Cross, pierced by nails, and a white Host shines at its centre. Above it God the Father opens His arms and the Holy Spirit comes down as a dove; below, a lamb lies at rest, and two more hearts stand in the clouds. The Museo Blaisten publishes no commentary, only the facts: Cabrera, 1750, oil on copper, 43.5 by 33.5 centimetres. Jorge Luis Merlo Solorio argues the title is wrong and it should be the Allegory of the Sacred Heart: crucified with the consent of the Father and the Holy Spirit, Christ's heart immolates itself for universal salvation. All of heaven fits on a sheet of copper.
