Our Lady sits on a rock in a shepherdess hat, a staff in one hand, and feeds roses to her sheep; two small angels lower a crown over her. Saint Michael comes down for a stray, and the Devil's jaws wait. Ilona Katzew explains for LACMA that in 1703 the Capuchin friar Isidore of Seville commissioned an image of his vision of the Virgin, and his instructions fixed it: red gown, blue mantle, the hat, the rock, the roses, the rescue. Cabrera painted versions large and small; this one is on copper, nine and a half inches high. The lettering beneath names her Divine Shepherdess of souls.
