Editorial standards
The paintings we print were made to show the faith truly. What we write beside them has to meet the same bar. These are the rules every page on this site is held to.
Every fact has a named source
An artist, a date, a museum, a reading of a painting, the history of a prayer: each is taken from a source we name beside it, most often the holding museum's own record, a named scholar, the Catholic Encyclopedia, or Scripture. A sentence no source supports is cut, not softened. Where scholars disagree, we say whose reading we give.
Attribution as the museum prints it
Each work carries the artist, title, date and collection as the holding institution records them, and we check them against the institution's own page. Where we print a title differently (an English translation, for example) we record why. When we have been wrong about a work, we correct the record and keep a note of the correction.
Scripture and prayer, word for word
Scripture is quoted from the Douay-Rheims Bible (Challoner revision), verbatim, with its reference. The traditional prayers are given in their traditional English wording and, where we give it, their Latin. Automated checks compare every quotation on the site against the source text before anything is published.
Only real paintings
Every image on this site is a photograph of a real painting in a real collection. We never use AI-generated or AI-altered sacred images. Photographs are credited to the museum or photographer who made them, with the licence where one applies; we trim only frames, plaques and mounts, never the painting.
How we use AI
We use AI tools to help with research and drafting. They do not decide what we say. Every fact still has to meet the sourcing rule above, every description of a painting is checked against the painting itself by a second reader, and nothing is published without the founder's approval.
Prayer is not a sales page
The Rosary and prayer pages carry no prices. Where a painting on them is also a print, it has one small link to its page, and nothing more.
Corrections
If you find an error, write to [email protected]. We will check it against the source and correct it.
