Our Lady wears a crown of feathers, and so does her Son, and the Museo Colonial in Bogotá reads those feathers as the headdress of Inca nobility. She holds a rosary; He holds a small blue globe. An unknown eighteenth-century Andean painter made a portrait of a statue: the museum explains that such images reproduced a revered figure on its altar, dressed in rich vestments and framed by curtains, and this one records the image in the church of Santiago de Pomata, where Dominicans brought the devotion. Her dress spreads in a triangle of pearls and bows. At its hem a crescent moon and three cherubs keep her feet.
