Two angels blow long trumpets across an open sky, and the grass below fills with naked bodies. Above them Christ sits on a cloud in a red mantle, one hand raised and one held out. The Metropolitan Museum of Art says these angels link heaven and earth; that Christ blesses the saved at lower left while Saint Michael shepherds the damned into a hell burning in the distance at the right; that the nudes reflect Joos van Cleve's study of prints after Raphael; and that the figure of Christ seems inspired by the ancient Laocoon. Between the two crowds a winged figure with a sword stands alone on the field.
