Running right round it in gold leaf is Lamentations: O VOS OMNES QVI TRANSITIS PER VIAM ATTENDITE ET VIDETE SI EST DOLOR SICVT DOLOR MEVS — all you who pass by, look, and see whether there is any sorrow like mine. Then the panel puts you in the crowd. The viewpoint is high, so you stand behind three men below Pilate's balcony, and one of them turns from the shouting and, the Prado says, seems to be asking your opinion.
