Find the man in light blue with his arms crossed, standing a little apart from the crowd. Vilmos Tátrai, writing for the Budapest Museum of Fine Arts, identifies Him as Christ, and says the Baptist's pointing hand follows his words about one who stands among them unknown. God has come to the sermon as one more listener. Around them Pieter Bruegel packs the crowd the museum lists: nobles, priests, soldiers, peasants, Spaniards, Turks. A nobleman in black gives his hand to a fortune teller in a striped blanket. Beyond, a river bends past a church and a walled city, suggesting, Tátrai says, a place of baptism.
